Homeless Network Newz: Season 6 Episode 5 “Where Do We Draw the Line?”

Join zAmya for the sixth season of Homeless Network Newz, virtual creative performances highlighting stories, experiences and the creative contributions of people who have experienced homelessness. Season 6 will be broadcast on YouTube and Facebook Live weekly on Thursdays at 7PM, Nov. 4 - Dec. 16, 2021.

Season 6 Episode 5: “Where Do We Draw the Line?”
Dec. 9 @ 7:00 PM
A look at two public art projects, Free the Deeds, and Never Homeless Before 1492. What is a second chance and why might you need it if you have a felony? And where do we draw the line? Hosted by Corey Walton, including zAmya troupe members and our friends at Dorothy Day.

This episode is sponsored by Mapping Prejudice. Mapping Prejudice is a team of geographers, historians, digital humanists and community activists seeking to expose structural racism. They have led community members in the work of unearthing thousands of racial covenants that reserved land for the exclusive use of white people. These restrictions, known as racial covenants or racially-restrictive deeds, were used in most American cities before 1968 to prevent people who were not white from buying or occupying property. Mapping Prejudice shows how much of the urban landscape was saddled with these restrictions. Learn more at: https://mappingprejudice.umn.edu/

zAmya began creating Homeless Network Newz episodes with zAmya troupe members as a way of using storytelling to engage with each other during COVID-19 and create awareness about current issues facing people experiencing homelessness. zAmya aims to inspire people to advocate for short and long term solutions to the housing crisis in Minnesota. Episodes are directed by Esther Ouray and edited by Flo Razowsky. Hosted by Corey Walton, featuring troupe members Robert Blood, Marcia Barnes, Annette Bryant, Marvin Howard, Shannon Kemp, Caroline Mannheimer, Ken Moore, Christina Sayers, Sol Moran Sepulveda, and Tahiti Robinson.
